Converting a single-car garage into a short-term rental ADU for a Portland DJ, Miles challenged us to pack living, working, and hosting into a compact, thoughtful space.

The design stacks a loft above a tightly organized core with a walk-in shower, full-size vanity, toilet, laundry, and storage. Heated floors and a built-in planter in the shower connect daily rituals to wellness and natural light. Every inch is intentional, from concealed utilities to multi functional counters, so the space feels open, calm, and fully functional despite its size.

This ADU balances a global lifestyle with local hospitality, proving that careful design and a lot of “how can we make this work?” energy can turn even the tiniest spaces into places that feel expansive, grounding, and special.
